Plus, if you wish to learn English, then there is no better place to immerse yourself in the language and the culture than the country’s capital.
To help you make the most of your time in London, we’ve put together a list of some of the must-see landmarks around the city…
Buckingham Palace
You can’t visit London without a visit to the Queen’s home. Experience the magnificently decorated state rooms inside the palace and admire the famous art work by artists such as Rembrandt and Canaletto. You can also witness the famous British ceremony of Changing the Guard that takes place outside the palace between May and July.
Tower of London
Another one of London’s most popular landmarks is the Tower of London. This remarkable icon of England’s history is situated along the River Thames and houses the famous crown jewels. Spend the day exploring the tower, meeting the ‘Beefeaters’ and the ravens, and learning about the prison and dungeons.
The Shard
Visit the tallest skyscraper in Western Europe, the Shard. Take a trip to the top floor at over 1,000 feet and enjoy the stunning views over London. This recent addition to the London skyline includes a luxury hotel, office space, bars and restaurants, as well as a viewing platform, which has become a popular tourist attraction.
Big Ben
Did you know that ‘Big Ben’ is actually the name of the Great Bell inside of Westminster and not the clock tower? Big Ben has to be one of the most recognisable sights in London with its world-famous clock face. Take some time to admire the stunning architecture of the Houses of Parliament either from the riverside or on a guided tour.
